A few days ago we returned home (to our new Montenegro locale) from a nine day roadtrip in and around Serbia, touching in on Bosnia & Herzegovina, Romania and Bulgaria.
For the most part our route followed the Drina and Danube rivers, which led us through some incredibly diverse countryside.
We wanted to share pictures from the road (many of them are taken from the moving car) to help you get a sense of the dramatic and varied sights and scenery we experienced in the of course of our relatively short drive.
Here are links for more pictures, chronicling the rivers we followed and the cities we visited: The Drina River, Belgrade & Novi Sad in Serbia, the Danube River, Vidin in Bulgaria and Novi Pazar in Serbia.

Great post! My wife and I are planning our road trip through the Balkans and are planning some time in Serbia. We are obviously spending nights in Belgrade and Novi Sad but wanted to see if you had any other recommendations. Wine country, scenic drives, hidden gems, etc?
