We hopped off the train between Cinque Terre and Rome to spend an afternoon in Florence, the heart of Tuscany and the birthplace of the Renaissance.
As is our style, we bypassed the museums and things of historical significance and narrowed in on the Arno river, which led us to a long staircase leading up to Piazzale Michelangelo. Once at the top we were rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view of Florence and a bronze cast replica of Michelangelo’s David.
